    This is a set of chromolithographed paper soldiers published by McLoughlin Bros. around 1875. I believe these were purchased in a set already cut. Each measures 4" by 1 1/8" and the condition is very good.
    McLoughlin Bros., Inc. was a New York publishing firm active between 1858 and 1920. The company was a pioneer in color printing technologies in children's books. The company specialized in retellings of classic stories for children. By 1886, the firm published a wide range of items, including cheap chapbooks, large folio picture books, linen books, puzzles, games, paper soldiers and paper dolls.
